Foo - I just ate a Subway Sub.

Horrible. Absolutely terrible. That Jared Fogle is the Anti-Christ.

What kind of sandwich?
Jared ate Subway so he would lose weight. If the food tastes bad, you'll eat less of it.

What kind of sandwich?
A very bad one. Something for five bucks.

Chain sandwich shops are almost universally bad.
It's the smell, that terrible smell. And you can't get rid of it.
You ordered it wrongly. Subway makes an okay sammich if you do it right.
Italian BMT on wheat, american cheese, lettuce, light on the onions, pickles, black olives, pepperoncini, salt and pepper, oregano, vinegar and oil, yellow mustard and brown mustard, 1 "stripe" of each.
Not toasted.
Cheetos, crunchy
Tea / lemonade - Subway Arnold Palmer

Did you order a Lynyrd Skynyrd Signature Edition Sub™?

Jimmy Johns is so much better than subway
Jimmy Johns rules, then Jersey Mikes, then Subway, then Quiznos, then Blimpies.
Regional chain - The Great Outdoors rocks. Awesome sandwiches.

Agreed but still not as good as local sub shop.

Subway's BMT is so salty that I gain 2 lbs if I eat one as my body soaks up water.

Never been a fan of Subway.
If I want a sandwich, I'll go to a local chain, like Silver Mine.

Subway isn't half bad if you know what to order (as mentioned above). Healthy and tasty is: Club on wheat with provolone. Lettuce, tomatoe, pickles, black olives, jalapenos (jalapenos are important to add a nice twang!), salt and pepper, oil & vinegar dressing. Do NOT get a toasted sandwich.
Sure, most small chain shops might be better. But, when there's a Subway just across the street - I will usually go there.

As far as I know, it is one of the few mainstream brands that does not have HFCS as a sweetener.

Now I know what to get you for your birthday if you return the bass.

That's exactly how I ordered it. The Arnold Palmer was pretty good.

All of this talk about munching is making me hungry for a sandwich. My lunch isn't for another 45 minutes :(

I have an empanada here, and some string cheese. Probably still better than Subway.

I actually prefer subway to JJ. The JJ in Carbondale always had the most stale bread, and I had 2 friends that got food poisoning from it, and one who worked there that broke his tooth on a piece of their bacon , so it kind of turned me off of them. It is a college town though, so it's understandable that it wouldn't be up to par with the others. At subway I almost always get the Ital BMT on herb and cheese bread. Chipolte mayo is the extra that makes almost any sub good.

Jersey Mike's is a chain and quite good.
I'd say the dividing line could well be prep methods. The more that is pre done the worse the sandwich.

Blimpies used to be great and perhaps more important different. There was one in Azuza the way to where Highway 39 enters the mountians. They has a heavier bread than other sub shops, the sub was smaller but packed with meat. Always got one when I was going into the mountians there.
Years later I saw a Blimpies near work. Tried a sub there. The still cut the meat fresh, but the bread was a poor copy of that at subway.
I'd put the Azuza Blimpies near the top, teh one near work at the bottom.

Jersey Mikes and Which Wich are pretty good. I'm not a big Subway fan although its ok in a pinch. The Jimmy Johns near my work has been a disappointment.
We had a Which Wich here at the Galleria. I would walk over there pretty often. It closed and was replaced by Raising Cane's chicken. We also have a Potbelly Sandwich Shop. They are pretty good as well.

Schlotzsky's is a good chain. I love the bread they use.

Potbelly's is great, forgot about them.
Jimmy John's just moved into the area (not in my 'burb), so I haven't had a chance to try them. Wife swears by this place called Lenny's which is where we invariably eat whenever we get a chance to shoot some pool.
For the record, I'm still on my quest to find a decent phiily cheese steak sammich in this town.
Did you take the paper wrapper off before you ate the sub?

There are very few things I can order there that I can tolerate eating. Since I lost my income I have been eating sandwiches almost every day for lunch, I can make a better sandwich myself than I get at Subway. And on top of that I don't like going there because I have to tell them how to make the sandwich. I want to order a sandwich off of the menu and have employees that know how to make it.
