Mountain Biking - 2005 Manitou Axel Comp travel change

The 2005 Manitou Axel comp is supposed to be convertible from 80mm to 100mm travel. I have found instructions to do this for the 2004 Axel comp, but the 2005 internals are different.
Does anyone know how to increase the travel?

OK. umm well i have one of these forks, and there is not adjustible travel, inside or out. there are 2 versions, however, one with 80 mm and one with 100 mm. the low range manitou with travel adjust is the six, which is a basic XC fork.

All axel models are supposed to be convertible. It says so on their Manitou's website..
And I have read an review of the axel comp where the one giving the review had converted it from 80mm to 100mm. Tried to contact the guy without success..

Since I hate Manipoo's with an unquenchable passion I can only suggest that you contact Manipoo either by phone or via e-mail.

Long story short, I've found Manipoo's to be overly flexible, to have poor seals, and to generally feel cheap. That was BEFORE I found out about this:

February of 2002. Answer Products, manufacturer of the Manitou brand of suspension forks, camped at South Mountain Park for its annual product testing/demo program, as they had done for the past two years. According to Joel Smith, Manitou brand manager for Answer Products, he later found out test riders and photo journalists had gotten out of hand and were responsible for some trail damage on the National Trail during their stay. Local cyclists had sounded an alarm.

“There were some reports of trail abuse on the National Trail that we first saw on internet chat rooms,” said Smith. “I was personally super-surprised, and we felt we wanted to do anything we could do. Not just to clear our name, but to do something. Abusing trails is just not our deal.”
They later bought their way out with a $1,000 donation from Answer to the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona. MBAA and the City of Phoenix used the funds to start a National Mountain Bike Patrol program.
It's my belief that if they were so concerened about trail advocacy they would have had someone to oversee the activity and to prevent the damage from occuring. From the reports I read at the time the damage was pretty extensive, all in the name of product testing and shooting for ads.

My only beef with them is their stupid post mount for disc brakes instead of the standard IS mount like pretty much every other fork uses.

Rotorhead, sorry to dissapoint you but I can't help you with your 2005 axel comp problem, but can you please tell me where you found info about changing travel on the 04 Axel comp? I looked on Manitou's site and found nothing so far. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Select your fork and the service manual download has the instructions for changing the travel on page 7 and 8. Same service manual for all 04 axel models. And on the same page as the service manual is each individual forks' instruction manual.
