Time for Rube to bring in the tomatoe plant, lawn chair and underwear off the clothes line as hurricane Sandy approaches central Florida.

This. I am right on the coast (remember my hand-wringing over house a bit inland or beachfront condo? we went condo) and they are "only" calling for moderate (30-40mph) winds and non-torrential rains, with the eye staying 150-200 miles off shor. If Sandy continues her westward trek, I really fear for the Northeast. Might be a direct hit.

If it is skinny, probably not enough sun light. Etiolation is the fancy name, but get that sucker out in the sun.

Where is Tom during this?

His last blog post (http://candidesvoyages.blogspot.com/2012/10/well-were-ni-south-florida-now-after.html) had him at Lake Okeechobee awaiting essentials from Amazon. That was 8 days ago

If Tom is anywhere near the Bahamas right now, I do hope he's in port and indoors.

Tom is safe on dry land for now. He's been working on his boat so his internet connection is a bit spotty.

I told the crowman not to use silly putty to seal the holes and mast.

That's what we're getting right now (near Cocoa Beach). The wind is only mildly ridiculous, and the rain is off and on. I was able to give the dog a long walk between bands of showers. After an hour-long walk, we had just stepped inside, and it began to pour rain. Now the sun's out again; go figure.

Looking at the path, it looks like the in-laws non-winterized vacation house in the Catskills is going to get it, along with all of those people in Prattsville, NY-- again. It's going to be a rough week in Scranton, too.

Dallas appears to be out of danger for the moment, but I will keep a weather eye peeled.

You stated before Texicans are not "afeeered"of such natural effects and why would you peel the cornea off your eye?

Now the Rube is a bit skittish so I try and give him advance warning.
