Hi all .
I post regularly here on this forum . I'm know as bikeman715 .
When I was out doing some shopping yesterday my bike was taken . It a 1995 Cannondale T700 . in great mechanic working order . I do my own repairs on it , 700 C wheels .I have tools in the saddle bag for myself or anyone who may need help on the road . it Teal in color . 21 inch frame with a rear rack . 21 speeds .S/N # EB 5234 BN085W21 . yes it was lock up to a bike rack in front of the store They left the lock behind.. I did file a police report and at this time they show no interest in finding it . I'm disable and the bike is my only way around town for shopping , doctor's appt . and such . plus I put 500 miles a month on it for health reason . If anyone see or find it please contact me , Donald Ruppe , 1021 Polk St ,Unit 12 , Salinas Ca .or the Salinas police dept . I need to find my bike because I have no way of replacing it . Thank you for your time of reading this .

To the Forum owner , Please do post this to where it need to be . Thanks

Donald,
That's totally sucky! I know Salinas isn't the safest place in the world now that the gangs have taken over. Hopefully you'll get the bike back.

1. home-owner's insurance may pay out since you filed a police report.
2. newspaper article with local paper. americans love personal interest stories (especially from a disabled person with a good story) ... you may A) get your bike back if people are looking for it (do you have a picture to put in the article?), B) you may get publicity and donations especially from a local bike-shop or local bike co-op looking for publicity, C) you may get a used bike from someone who has one sitting in the garage.

good luck. it sucks but view it as an opportunity.

local bike co-op

If you have one of these and walk in there and tell them about your bike, they should be able to help you out with a hefty discount or something...

Thank you for your thoughts and ideas . I have not hear anything from the police or anyone else about the where about of my bike . I do hope to get it back and deal with the person who took it . I know right now it suck to be without it .

A forlorn hope, I'm afraid... IMO your best bet is to suck it up and move on.

^+1, get someone in town to help you find another bike, look for a non-profit bike shop, or bike co-op, with used bikes for less. Check craigslist also to see if the bike has been put up for sale locally. Not much else can be done.
