I have an older Easton/Velomax wheel with the R3 hub in front and the bearing and hence the wheel is loose. I know the later R4 hubs had a set screw to adjust the load, but not these. I think you were supposed to be able to tighten with the skewer but I'm not finding that to be the case. I can't put enough of a load on it to make it tight. I've had this wheel for about 2 years now and it has always bothered me a bit, although I didn't pay much for it. It rides ok but rattles when I'm off the bike, and I'm sure a tight wheel would be better.
Is there any way to adjust this at a shop? Is this something I could do myself even?
