I am getting the itch to get another watch. My current favorite is the Seiko 5, but I'd like to find another to add to my collection. I don't have anything over $100 and can't see myself spending any more than that for a watch (I'm cheap). What are your suggestions? One thing I am not a fan of are diving watches. Don't like those big numbered rotating dials of diving watches. What are your favorite $100 watches.

Im a big fan of Poljot watches.
Prices have gone up on them lately but I still feel they are great automatic and mechanical movement watches for the price.
Might be able to find them used for just a bit over your budget.

I'm not really into square watches. I would like to see it in person though.

If you are cheap (like me) then you need to go to pmwf.com.
Watches seem to fall into these categories- dress, diving, pilot and chrono. Seiko makes inexpensive watches in all of these categories, if you leave out diving watches there are still a lot of Seiko 5's to choose from. Seiko 5's are mechanical but the inexpensive Seiko chrono's will be quartz, probably can't find any mechanical chrono for under $100. In mechanical watches you can also look at Citizen and Orient. At one time I had a collection of 6 or 8 mechanical watches, all $100 or less.
You can see that most of my watches are dive watches:

Poljot from Russia
Seagull from China
Both are good watches IF you get a good one to start with.
Hanilton Khaki manual wind is a quality watch you might be able to get at your price.

Probably a stupid question, but what's the point of being able to turn the outer dial on the face of a watch? Mine you can turn (I'm assuming that makes it a diving watch though I don't remember it being particularly waterproof), but I can't figure out why you'd want it to.

Set the dial arrow to the minute hand. As time goes on it tells you how much time has passed.

If you are diving and you know your oxygen tank holds 25 minutes of air, you turn the dial so that 0 starts at the minute and while underwater you can easily tell how much time you have.

I ended up ordering one of these last night. $50 for a good looking Casio, free shipping from Amazon. Still interested in other ideas.

I had a Skagen that I loved. it looked good, was super thin and light but delicate. I broke the band and I'm still not sure how I did it...

That makes sense, I suppose, thanks. I never knew why it moved, was just always frustrated every time I looked down and saw it turned out of sync.

I have two automatic Orients that I love. Crazy nice watches and Orient makes their own movements. Some of their models are above your stated price range, but they have cheaper models as well. Both of mine were less than $100 each.

I really like those Orients. I wish I could find them locally. The ones I like are a little out of my price range and would prefer to see them in person before getting one.

Yeah, I wound up buying both of mine on faith. Thankfully I was more than happy with them when they showed up. Of all my watches, my first Orient I bought would be the one I would rescue if there were a fire and I could only grab one. I think I paid about $100 for it five years ago. I don't see that model on their web site any longer.
I've also been wanting this one for quite a while, but $400 clams is a little more than I want to spend (even though I realize that's chump change compared to many watches.)
