So today I went to do some work on my old Mesa and the seat post seems to be welded into the frame with corrosion. Anyway to get it out? I will be replacing it, so I tried a pipe wrench with no luck.

After you've squirted it with rust busters, wd40 and anything else you can think of there is always heat from a propane torch. If the pipe wrench still doesn't work, try clamping the post in a vise and then twisting the bicycle. This will give you much more leverage than the wrench. (It would help to remove the wheels and H'Bar.)
If this still doesn't work, saw it off even with the seat tube and use a narrower seat post inside the old one or you can use a hacksaw blade and cut a slot in what is left of the old seat post and peel it out with a hammer and chisel. I have used all these methods at one time or another. Good luck.

And remember to clean the seat tube inside and coat it with grease before installing the new seat post.

(There was a thread on this about a year ago. You might want to check the archives.)

Welded seat posts can be a real problem.

Search the "Bicycle Mechanics" topic for more. We had quite a thread going for awhile and there was a lot of good advice.

Sheldon Brown talks about it in great detail on his site.

In one extreme case, I had to cut a post down to the frame, cut a slit in the remaining post through the slit in the frame, and insert a smaller I.D. post inside the remaining post.
