I've been building up a bike I had shipped to me and can't figure out how to fix my left brake lever as I've never had this issue before. It's protruding out a bit so that when it is resting the lever isn't touching my thumb shifter the way it does on my right brifter.

Could anyone explain to me WHY it is like that and WHAT I can do to fix it? I'd rather not take it to the LBS if I can fix it on my own.

Thanks!

look like your shifter lever got bent during shipping . not sure if you can bent it back without breaking . in most cases you'll have to replace it .

Hmm, I don't think the shifter got bent - it was wrapped in foam and packed in foam. If you look at the left and right brake levers from the front I can see that the left lever is raised up a little so that the top of it is inside the housing. The right hand lever sits flush with the housing.

I feel like it has something to do with the brake cable tension or length...but I tinkered with the tension yesterday and although I was able to bring the lever to sit a little closer with the shifter, it still didn't sit the way the right set did.

The 2nd photo above shows how the lever sits when resting, the 3rd shows when I press it together against the shifter, how it should sit. The brakes move slightly when pressed down.

Push the lever towards the shifter and push in the button on the side of the brake lever. Campy has the brake QR in the lever, not the caliper- the QR is open on that side.

That was it! Boy, do I feel stupid.

Should the quick release be pushed in all the way like on the right lever or halfway?
