Commuting - New Cycling Shoes Help--Anything good quality and mostly natural materials out there?

Really trying to go mostly with products made with biodegradable (natural) materials when buying durable goods these days. I know about Dromarti and Quoc Pham but wanted to do a last check with everyone here to make sure there aren't other options. I couldn't find any other options.

I guess the cleats just attach with wood screws?

Real leather is actually awful for bike shoes because bike shoes get wet and damp constantly. The most expensive bike shoe are all made of some form of fake leather.

hence SiDi they use 'Lorica' a very nice 'pleather' cycling shoe..

OP, I think your quest is slightly silly considering the relative durability of cycling shoes, their performance-oriented nature, and the relatively small amount of materials used in their construction. Natural leather upper, although I suspect it's effectively impossible to buy a cycling shoe that does not have some kind of synthetic material for a sole, and honestly it's not like leather is an amazingly low impact material to process. Also the interior of the show is probably made out of synthetic materials.

For what it's worth the shoes you linked to are attractive looking. Of course, for the same cash, you could buy some nice conventional, mass market cycling shoes (even used to be more eco groovy!) and send the Sierra Club or Greenpeace or The Nature Conservatory or whatever like a hundred bucks and have more practical shoes and do more to help the environment.

vittoria shoes has some leather offerings if that's really what you're into. I've read good reviews. Though, the impact of shipping from Italy to the US likely negates the benefits, much like transporting from china or elsewhere. Why not look into wholly recyclable shoes. Maybe there are some that are made out of old waterbottles or somesuch. Or probably the most eco option would be to buy used and keep something out of the landfills.
