Commuting - My new bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What "parts" are you looking for?

Since you already own the bike, why not cross that bridge when you need to? I would wager that most parts on that frame can be upgraded.

Niner tires and tubes and disc brake pads are not as ubiquitous as 26" tires/tubes and rim brake pads, so you'll likely have to go to a bike shop for replacements instead of walmart, but they're still found in most bicycle shops.

Yep, 29er wheels are based on the 700c (622 bead) standard. I use nice juicy 50mm slicks on my 29er-based bike for commuting, but you can go narrower.
I advise against going to Wal-Mart for parts. Stick with your LBS or online resources IMO.

What??! Your brand-new Wal-Mart bike shouldn't need any parts or adjustment. Or new tires.

Then take the ****ing thing back. You shouldn't have to fix a brand-new bike from any store.

Why do you keep buying Wally World crap?? Get a legit bike from a legit shop.

Just my opinion, If it already has problems then that's not good. I would take it back and go to your LBS or search the web, for factory closeout sales and used bikes. You can probably get like 30 or 40% off the MSRP. You can find good deals on craigslist too.

Look for a 80's rigid(no shocks) MTB on cragslist. They are durably, easy to fix and parts are cheap. You can also easily get a decent name brand bike for around $100.

They almost always need adjustment. Tires are typically good to go, unless they put a return back out on the floor, though.

That sucks. I saw new a globe hybrid at my bike shop with a tiny ding in the frame for $40 more than that Walgoose.
