Commuting - Buying a used SOMA DoubleCross, does this price seem reasonable?

That's a nice bike, and well equipped. How many miles on it?
The price is stiff, but not unreasonable IMO.

Agree, the price is on the high end of reasonable. (I wouldn't sell my Double Cross for less than $1K, but it's built a little differently: BB7 Discs, Campy Chorus 10s Ergos, racks, fenders...)

It's the off season, so you should be able to negotiate a deal or if you're patient wait for one.

Person claims price is firm. We will see I guess. Bike has been on sale for 5 days at least. I have been waiting to get a good deal on a surly cross check but in about a month I haven't been unable to find one in my size that is reasonably priced. They either are not for sale and when they are someone else buys them before I get the chance.

I am not really familiar with bike parts so the best I can really do is look them up online, check the price and the reviews to try to figure out if the parts are quality and are fairly priced.

Pedals look like PD-M520.

I think that's an OK deal. I don't see many SOMAs for sale, but I've seen Surlys go for all kinds of prices, so I'll use that to analogize...
This one is nicely equipped and I'd say that if it were a Surly Cross Check, in my area (southern California), it would be gone at that price.
For my money, the SOMA frames (Tange Prestige) is the better value and better ride.
It would be nice if the guy came down a little bit, but there's nothing on the bike that need changing and it appears to be in nice condition.

I was really just going to use it for putzing around town on weekends, the occasional weeknight ride into the city for food, and the occasional more long distance ride with friends. I have some 32 slick tires so I can use those on whatever bike I end up getting. I will avoid riding in the rain if possible so fenders are not an issue..... I think.

Anyway I went and saw the bike and the guy was really cool and really nice. I felt the bike was too small for me after riding it a bit and he offered to do some measurements for me on the spot and he also came to the same conclusion. I don't know **** about bikes but it seemed like a fantastic bike, was lighter than I expected (own a surly steam roller now) and the guy seemed like he was totally being honest with me and we chatted about bikes for a bit after we decided the bike was nota good fit for me. I hope he finds a good buyer for the bike, I wish the bike would have fit me better so I could have bought it.

A bit moot now, but that build, new, probably approached $2k, so asking half that is reasonable... but still kinda steep. I'd figure more like $800.
