On 11/01, I received an E-Mail from Selle Anatomica informing me of their Winter Sale on the Titanico (Up to 190 lb. rating) and Titanico X (Up to 280 lb. rating) saddles. All colors are on sale (EXCEPT Black).
I promptly opened a thread in the Clydes & Athena Forum to spread the Glad Tidings.
I had purchased 2 of the Titanico X saddles several months ago (when the price had dropped to $130.00:thumb:/ down from regular price of $189.00:eek:). Both saddles were comfortable right out of the box (ymmv).
I was VERY surprised when checking touring forum this morning ( 5 days later ) that despite a thread asking about alternatives to the venerable (and excellent) Brooks saddles, none had yet mentioned the Selle Anatomica sale. So I felt It would be a good Idea to open a thread here to inform my fellow tourists.
Perhaps those tourists that also frequent the Rando / Long Distance and/or Tandem subforums would do a favor and make the announcement to those good folk?
This is my favorite saddle. The long saddle rails allow to go further back than a brooks. It has a nice waterproof layer on it so it's not as vulnerable to stretching and distorting. The cutout gives it built in suspension. The brooks saddles were never this comfy:thumb:

I've read many accounts of just the opposite...that they stretch much MORE than a Brooks and people have bottomed out the adjuster after just a few years.
(I have four Brooks Professional saddles in use and haven't had to turn the adjuster bolt in years...but I cover them if it's going to get wet)

I'm using what's considered to be the Legacy version of the SA, and I have had to tighten the adjustment screw, but it's been over a year of daily commuting and some short tours since I last touched the adjuster.
FWIW, SA's newest offerings use thicker material so stretching should be minimized.

Thanks for posting this. I am planning a build and want a leather saddle for it. I don't want Brooks so this is a perfect opp to try the SAA.
Made in the USA and the sale price sold me.
btw, they are out of the Honey/light brown color even though it was on sale in the store.

Wow, thanks, half price for a great saddle, just ordered one!
I ordered two and they got here within a week. :) I must say as a Brooks rider that these are just as comfortable as a broken in Brooks. They're just not as handsome and not available in different widths. I'm a little skeptical of the waterproof claim though. Guess I'll find out this winter.

I ordered an X and it arrived this week after about 3 weeks. Very nice looking and appears to be high quality. Won't find out how it compares to my Brooks until spring though.
NOTE- I ordered mine in Graphite color, which the web shows as light grey. Its much darker, almost black. I contacted SA and they were great and offeredto replace with adifferent color. I'm keeping it and we'll see if it rides as nice as the Brooks

You can always use Shoe Dye and make it darker..
