and if you haven't seen them, check em out (http://www.levelcomponents.com/)

- i got hit by a car. and should have an insurance settlement coming. custom ride? i'm thinking Circle A cycles. any suggestions on that?

riderx just had a nice write up on them...knock softly, yet loudly enough to be heard. He will probably share it with you!
They are pretty sweet, and a bit ingenious too.

Truely ingenious design. I just love it when a guy with a good idea takes it all the way. Have the big companies ever tried anything like this design? It is so elegant and simple.

one thing to keep in mind; if level goes under it's gonna be hard to get cogs...

I've heard rumors that Spicer will drill cogs for you, but they're meant for disc hubs. From the specs, I imagine Gene could drill you a new cog for a similar price.

I followed that site and tried to determine pricing. I like the idea of bolt on but why torx and not hex. In my experience torx sux. Anyway, cost anyone?

150 bucks for the rear, including cog at reload: http://www.reloadbags.com/bparts/index.html

Thanks. It looks really nice. At that price I will be sticking to my Campy hub with locktite for a while. Maybe next Christmas wish list?

Other things to bear in mind:

The hubs are beefy and thus heavier than other hubs. Not a problem for most people.

Also from a racing viewpoint the cogs only go down to a 15T which may not offer a high enough gearing (depending on your front).

I wouldn't worry about these guys going under. I have been working with them (I sell LEVEL stuff up here in Canada). Every manufacturing run these guys do sell out in a matter of weeks...We are constantly waiting for them to do additional runs.

As well, we've been stocking up on cogs just in case any ways :)

I've talked to them about a smaller cog than 15T as well. Because these were originially designed for Fixed MTB'ers is why they only go to 15T...they may be putting out 13T and 14T though in the future.

Torx rocks if you're trying to control tension without using torquewrenches.
