Track Cycling: Velodrome Racing and Training Area - Any of you guys know this guy?

Name is Kirk Whiteman and he's a local coach that I was referred to by a shop I go to here in Portland. All the people I've asked about say he's got a lot of track experience as a coach and competitor.

Signed up for a spin class so I can meet the guy - 10 mins from my house and $18, cant hurt.

Yes. He's a really fast guy, smart coach, and nice person. I can't say enough nice things about him.

He looked suprised and smiled when I said that.

Anyway, the class was much more controlled and focused than any of the other spin classes I've been to. The bikes were better (cyclops pro w/power meter, etc) and he was meticulous on fit. Interestingly, he told me that 90% of his riders' training is indoors on the cyclops bikes.

I've been looking at indoor trainers a bit and ran across that SRM model - that thing is freaking expensive.

Yeah, he's a firm believer in on-the-bike power training. It works.

Yeah, the SRM one is expensive. The Cycleops one with power starts at a more reasonable (reletively speaking) $1,600-1800.

Know I'm raising a dead horse here, but I just want to tell anyone in the pdx area to not hesitate to hit up Kirk for a good spin workout this winter.
