Beast tires for your rain bike:

These tires are great in the crud that lines the streets of Boston right now. I have been running them since last April but I haven't been riding much in the slush/nasty wetness this winter. But the best part about them is that they grip the road stronger than Lawrence Talyor with a crack pipe. The roads are absolutely awful right now and I didn't slip once during the 20 mile ride I just got back from. I just bought them because they were a decent price and the LBS didn't have any other decent 27" tires with any tread(these are on the beater/rain conversion). I have only had two flats since I got them so puncture resistance is really good. They do roll a little slow as a result of the tread but not to the point of hindering your speed a great deal.

Flat protection: Great
Rolling resistance: OK, but a little slow
Traction: Really, really good

BOTTOM LINE: These are a really good for your beater if you want bomb-proof tires and you are concerned about slippage in the wet.

Are you kidding? All tires are hard to get on! :D

But seriously, they are no harder to get on/off than any other tire that I've used. I usually try to stretch my tires out a little bit before I put them on when they are new and after that it's not too bad.

i don't have to deal with snow, but i do have these on my junker fixie... awesome tires, but once you break through to the threads the whole rest of the tire dies real quick... takes a while to get to that point tho...
and i haven't found them super hard to get on, but hard enough that i did have to use a tire lever...
