Introductions - from LA, a bikers paradise!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi, I moved to Los angeles 4 months ago, and I totally love it. I didnt know a single soul when I moved here. and to top it I am not buying a car for a while (trying to make a point and save some money!!!). I do get around by bike&bus.
I dont do racing. just biking.
I try to go on a hike during the weekend, and I bike along the beach too (around venice and santamonica)
I'll be doing the acuraLA bike tour on march 6th. I am looking for folks to team up with. anybody out there?
hoping to meet some bikers in the real world!!!
have fun, keep having fun

Hi there,
I remember a few years ago going to Long Beach on business and since it was a one week trip, I took my bike. Since it was June and already in the 90's where I live, I took only summer clothes and one very light
windbreaker. Well, it never got out of the low 60's and with that breeze off the ocean it felt like 50.
I rode anyway, and on one day rode the coast highway to San Clemente and back . It was awesome in spite of the "cold." The last day there I got up really early and took my bike and me inland for a long mountain ride. It was finally warm!
Just got back from Palm Springs a couple of weeks ago and on the second day I was there, rode in a rainstorm, the next day in the mud (on the road) and really strong wind. Finally on day three it got pleasant and I was able to ride another 100 miles or so the last three days - including up to the tram. What a hill! And we have mountains around here.
You are right though, Southern California is a great place to ride!

It's called June gloom here in SoCal. Lots of haze and cool temps..... Actually, favourite time of the year for me here.

Lots of visitors come and see our June gloom and are surprised..I have grown to appreciate it...1- IT is what keeps us cooler most of the summer(unless you are inland) the onshore breezes...Without that we would be like Arizona and I would be unahappy..2- Most of the year, the daily fog disapiates by Noon..So no big deal...If it keeps the a/c bill down..on the coast almost even non-existant..Yes, in June bring a wind breaker for a morining ride.
Hey Z, I've registered for the ride. But I do not know anybody else who has registered. So if you do, lemme know and keep in touch.

Thanks TP, Seems to be a cool place. especially since I dont have a decent tool setup. Also I came to know about two midnight rides, which is what I was looking for.
