Touring - Touring with a Bike no braze ons

Just curious as to the actual NEED for a "touring" bike for pannier installation. I've noticed that out my four bikes not one of the has the braze ons on the rear frame....my wife's bike does but so far she hasn't expressed much interest in joining the tour but that's a whole different thread..... http://gp1.pinkbike.org/p4pb3897254/p4pb3897254.jpg this is my first choice on modifying for tour. The pic is not exactly my bike, mine has already had some upgrades and I find it uber comfortable my first concern is that it doesn't have the upper connection for the pannier rack. I'm under the assumption that with the right rack I can connect it to the QR on the seat post. Is this possible or recommended? Thoughts, questions, concerns?

LOL I see what you're saying. I don't keep my saddle nearly that low for road riding, I lower it for slopes and gravity riding which I'm fairly confident I won't be doing on tour.283420 . This is the current setup, I guess I should have mentioned I will be touring with trailer so panniers are not a real make or break on if I use it or not. My thought is use a seat post rack with a larger trunk bag. My thought on getting away without rear braze ons was mounting to qr skewer but I just had the brilliant thought of how much a pain that's going to be if i ever get a flat while loaded.

Shouldn't be a big deal, or at least any more than when running a touring bike. One often has to ditch the load in order to get access to something.

I don't think I would ever use both a trailer and panniers at the same time. I'd advise picking one or the other. Are you actually carrying enough to need both? If so, is there some special reason you need to?

You can tour without braze ons. Just search for "bikepacking" and "ultralight" and you'll get some ideas. Although your saddle to rear wheel clearance might be an issue

My GF did her first tour on a MTB with a B.O.B. The B.O.B. afforded sufficient space even with having to pack clothing for both cold, wet weather and warm, sunny weather.
