I've been trying to decide between Lake MX170 and Sidi Dominator 5's (for about the same price as the Lake's). I wondered if anyone here has thoughts as to which I should get or whether you'd choose a different shoe altogether. (I wear size 49 so I'm somewhat limited in the sizes to buy.)
Thanks,
Kevin

SiDi has a Mega series for Wide Feet, IDK what Lakes shoes are like. go try them on.

I have had very good luck with Sidis. Mine have taken a ridiculous amount of abuse. I've gotten almost 6 years and two cross seasons out of Dominators. The soles are peeling off and the second straps are zip tied together, but they still work.
If you wear a 49 and don't know your Sidi size I strongly recommend trying some on in person or at least ordering from somewhere with a good return policy. Sidis run small. Like *really* small.

I wear the MX170w (wide) in 46 and I really like these shoes. I can't speak to them in race duty, though. I'd make my decision based on closure type. I like the BOA system of the Lake.

:) I have to be honest, I'm size 50-51 (depends on shoe & sock) and I have a pair of Sidi Genius 5's that I absolutely love. I said I was 49 because the price was so insanely low ($105 for new Sidi's) that I was afraid someone else would get them before me if I gave them enough info to go on.
I've ordered the Sidi's because with the boa wheel in the back of the Lake, there's no way I'll ever find a shoe cover that will fit over it. I'm not sure I can find any for size 51 either but I noticed those wheels on the Lakes seem to stick out another 2 (or so) shoe sizes.
