I am wondering what all your oppinions are on the giant ac free ride bike. Any model. It seems to be a good price with good parts.

yes the AC1. That would have to be the best out of the whole AC range. Great bike and as you said before, good prices on them.

Not a bad bike. Depends what you want to use it for though.
AC stands for all condition but i'm not sure what they would classify that for. Wouldn't use if for flat road or track riding, although someone I rode with around melbourne had the original AC, but jeez that was heavy. Not sure if they're much lighter now, but the bike sure did take a beating going down a 20m clay hill. It was the ONLY bike that could keep tracksion on the hill. I was walking mine down and I still slipt over with the rest. But I mean they've got hydroclic rear shock, massive travel on front fork, compatible with tubeless and i THINK 8" disks, but if varies depending on model. Great bikes though :)

Heavy...??? Its under 40 I think in the 35pound range isn't it? If it still is, that a great weight for an all mountain/freeridish bike

one of the main things about the 2005 ACs (I assume you are talking about the 2005 ones) is that they are light - to go with the 'freeride-lite' trend. But anyway, they are awesome bikes imo.

I was reffering to the AC1, I have picked one up before and I thought it was quite heavy, but I assume the newer ones would be lighter. Does anyone know what year the first AC made?

I could have sworn they were canceling the AC and VT series for 05' 06'....using the new Maestro suspension instead, they have the 3 models of that. But the AC isnt a heavy bike....not a bad bike, but ive heard of MANY cracking. I know people who have broken 4 of them...

The freeriders in my area love them even if they do crack em.
