Touring - Sydney trip

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi everyone,
I am planning a big tour in the middle of next year, still playing with different options.
I am however fortunate enough to be going to Sydney for three weeks in February. Hopefully I will
be spending around 10 days (as long as I've finished building my bike) on a mini tour!!
I've looked through recent posts and although they've been really helpful I was wondering
if anyone has a fantastic 10 day ride they may have done... don't mind including a train journey
there or back!
Regards
Colin
The Blue Mountains are lovely ...

Take a train up there and then cycle around the area.
Or you could head up or down the coast. In either case, take a train out of Sydney and start riding from there. Going south, you might take a train to Sutherland, and then cycle south from there.
What sort of scenery do you prefer?

My info will be a little vague but you could pretty much jump on the train to the outskirts of the city, and end up cycling to somewhere that has a train stop (lots of smaller towns have them inland, and until you hit Nowra along the south coast).
Blue Mountains are very pleasant easy to visit via the Sydney's local train network. 2 hours and $8 later and your there.
I recommend spending a few days around South Sydney. Very lovely.

Thanks Machka and SparkyGA!
Blue mountains sound cool, but really do fancy
a bit of coast line cycling!! South of Sydney sounds good!
... are there camp sites etc? Thinking of taking everything
with me and travelling as if I'm doing the
much longer tour.. Just to get used to panniers etc..
