Foo - Wal-mart & my wristwatch

When it came time for people to turn their clocks back an hour, I couldn't do this on my wristwatch. It's digital and has a whole bunch of settings on it. For example, if I press one button, the clock face lights up and is easier for me to see. But there are others that are more complicated. Another sets it on military time. Still another sets beeps to go off. All of these are tiny and, with my limited eyesight, make it difficult if not impossible for me to work with. So whenever I need to reset the time on it, I return to the store chain we all know and love...Wal-mart. It is to retch.

I recently tried avoiding this by asking someone I know if she might be able to help. She did her best, but ended up setting the watch 12 hours behind on military time without realizing it. Oh, well.

At Wal-Mart, I turned my watch over to the lady at the jewelry counter and asked if she could be of help. After studying my Timex watch for about 10 minutes, she flagged down another employee. He was glad to help and reset my watch accordingly. However, the lady proved herself inept by accidentally pulling the pin out of the watch's band. Unable ro put it back, my watch was pretty well useless! Embarassed, the lady gave me a replacement which I didn't have to buy.

I hope many of you don't go through incidents like this much. I avoid Wal-Mart as much as possible.

This is why I gave up on watches and just rely on my cellphone for the time :)

Sounds like you have the same qualifications as the people that work there.

I gave up the wrist worn timepiece long ago. Thinking about getting one of those pocket watches on a D-ring to clip onto the man-purse du jour.

Yup. And now we find the OP *****ing after Walmart set the time and replaced the band on the watch free of charge.

It's no wonder we have become an Entitlement Society.

I went to wal-mart for a new battery put in my watch. The back screws off of the watch to get to the battery, it requires a tool I don't have. I gave it to the elderly woman at the jewerly counter, she looks at it, get the tool, looks at it, back at the watch, etc.. Finally, as I had hoped, she says "I don't know how to do this, can you do it?" Hell yes lady! She hands over the tool, and watch, an in about a minute I have the new battery in my watch, paid for the battery, and I'm on my way out of that hell hole.
It's wal-mart, you get what you pay for.

I need a new pin for my watch band. My last one broke about a month ago and I've felt naked ever since. I know all the jewelry stores around here would charge me like $20-30 to do it. I wish we had a walmart so I could go buy a cheap band, steal the pin from it and have their jewelry person replace it for me. I know they can do that (and I lack nimble enough fingers these days) as they've done it to get my battery out, but have always had me use their press to get the back back on as they can't ever do it themselves (diving watch doesn't fit into the press face quite right).
