Hi guys,

I need some advice on which bike to pick up. Looking for a speedy bike to commute around NYC with.

I'm trying to choose between Nekkid 2 Road Bike- http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product_10053_10052_524850_-1 and the Windsor Clockwork PLUS- http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/clockwork_plus.htm which is a better deal? Thanks.

The Nekkid 2 has better hubs.

Clockwork is cheaper.

Buy the one that you like better.

Thanks for the reply. BD says the precision wheel set on the clock work plus is worth $250 is that true?

No.

They also say "Compare to Bianchi/Surly up to $890" and then down near the bottom of the very same page say "Compare to SE Lager" - which retails for around $350.

I didn't even notice that thanks for pointing that out. I'm leaning closer to the Nekkid 2 just based on looks. Also if anybody has any suggestions that would be great to. Budgets 400 tops.

Two totally different bikes, different enough to not be comprable. Do you want gears or no?

The nekkid 2 road bike is actually a single speed. for some reason, nashbar stays away from the words "track" and "fixed gear."

No just single speed, it be a bonus if I had the option to go fixie as well with it.

The Clockwork frameset may be marginally better, but they're both Cromoly, which is good. Nashbar is just a little more vague about it. The wheels are definitely better on the Nekkid. Sealed bearings are awesome. I know on my Windsor (a The Hour, but probably comparable) the wheels are something I changed out because the stock ones were junky (not all the spoke nipples can even be turned because some are just round). The pedals look much better on the Nashbar, as the Windsor stock ones are at most not usable or at least frustrating to get into.

From my perspective the Nekkid looks the better deal as you won't have to change much on it from the get-go.
