I weigh 270, 6'1". I got a fixed-gear to get me back into riding (i would flirt with commuting on my MTB, then fade after 3 days, rinse lather repeat). So far i am sticking with it. Anyone else rotund up in here? I'm enjoying my Kilo immensely. I lost 8 lbs so far and am looking forward to the days my calves resemble my 215 lb era. Riding to bars (probably, the source of my fatness) has me drinking less and burning more off.

I'm on track to be less fat. 6'3", currently around 200. Was at 230 earlier this year. I ride about 150 each week, minimum.

6'5", 245lb here. I'm a weightlifter and stay lean but I did put on a few pounds of fat for the coming Fall/Winter.

Stick to it. Biking is a great way to burn those excess calories and improve cardiovascular health, something that I see a lot of people neglect.

5'6". 170 lbs. :(

On the bright side, I've lost some weight since I last weighed myself. So I guess that's not so bad.

I'm 5'6" and down to 160 after about 6 years of being anywhere from 180-200. mostly due to changing my eating habits and riding everywhere. not to mention playing basketball all the time. Just keep at it man, you'll drop that weight in no time.

6' and 230 myself. Im usually about 220 but work and baby seems to have put 10 lbs on me lately. Many years ago after a college beer and pizza diet i was up to 260!!

Bike commuting will come to a halt for the winter but i sure feel better for the day when i bike to work.

Never been "fat" in a classic sense but my gut takes the brunt of any weight gain. I usually get a belly during the rainy season and get back to a six pack when I get a regular cycling schedule running again. It's so easy to lose when you love the bike you're riding; I think that's the key.

6'2" 215 right now. Been up to almost 240. Actually started trail running in addition to cycling to shed some weight and get in shape for ski season. A 90 minute trail run kicks my behind about the same as a 100k fixed ride, if not more. Goal is under 200 by end of winter. On track to make it, especially if we get some snow and the nordic ski trails open up.

5'7" here, and I'm not fat anymore

The first 30.5 years of my life I was fat, and peaked at about 245-255,

(I wish I still had this bike :( )

Now, I'm about 150

I ride to work, to band practice, to quartet practice, for fun, because I enjoy riding. :) I also track my exercise and intake and try to keep to a reasonable limit every day. (I massively changed my eating habits :-) )

Jimmy, how are you even close to being fat? 6'3 and 200 sounds like a good weight. You could be very fit at 200 with that height.

I love how there aren't many fat guys in the forum because they are all now former fat guys. Great job to all the people in this thread for the weight loss, it's definitely not an easy thing to do for some.

Never was "fat" but I've lost about 20lbs since changing some aspects of my lifestyle, one of which is cycling regularly.

I used to be 220, and it may not have been "fat" but it was getting there if kept unchecked. I'm currently stable at 200 - comfortably filled in - and was 180 at my lightest.

Damn, that's impressive! I bet it feels great!

I was 6'1 and 160 lbs by about junior year of high school and have stayed that way +/- 5 lbs ever since. I'm not looking forward to when my young man metabolism slows down. I do eat very healthily and stay active so hopefully I can stay this way. The sqrl and I have pledged to cut down on fast food a lot when we get back to the US and I think that will be a good habit for both of our health and wallets.

I thought you were like 6'5 :) yeah i guess some of it has to do with what is compromising the 200. I figure most of us continually exercise so we should have a good muscle to weight ratio.

I'm 6'1 and move between 180-190 depending on how much I lift. If I dont lift I move down to 175 if I lift im up to 200 within 2 month. So I try and find a balance.

I was sort of there. I'm 5' 10", and I was really close to 200 last year. I'm coming down a bit, but the beginning of cold weather is starting to hurt. When I was a senior in high school, I weighed 150, and was in insanely good shape because of soccer, a gym class I was taking, and marching band all at the same time. I really miss that.

Do you attribute any of that to your exit from the restaurant business? I've lost 12lbs since I stopped, and I believe it's because I have a regular eating schedule (no more eating at 3am after getting home then going right to sleep), and no more eating bad foods (eating "quick" resulted in scarfing down whatever was fastest to cook).

It's a squishy 200, haha. I have a belly and I want it gone.

Yes. Absolutely. Plus. I'm riding a lot more now because I have time to do so, and I've been drinking less since I left kitchens and I'm sure that helps.

My low is usually around 175 half the year, the other half I push up toward 230-240 due to Hoshimoto's. I'm 6' and ride 150-200 a week.

Right now I'm at 232 wearing size 38/32 jeans. By February I'll be back down at 30/32. Having no functioning metabolisms sucks balls.

Thanks. I never understood what people meant when they said "You'll feel so much better if you lose weight" until after I lost a lot of weight. I didn't feel "bad" before, but I do feel much better now.

As for the "old man" metabolism, I think that's not usually a symptom of metabolic change as much as it is lifestyle change. Our metabolisms do slow with age, yes, but look at the lifestyle of your average 20-something vs. the average 30-something. Being single, childless, and working part-time hours (i.e. not a "9-5" fixed schedule) gives a lot more time for physical activity. (plus the fact that your bones and joints haven't betrayed you yet ;)) Whereas the typical 30-something is more likely to be married, have kids, and have the kind of job and working hours they need to support them. (and the car and house payments, and...)

Personally, at 33 I'm in way better shape than I was at 23. (I am still single  and childless , but I do work full-time :))

If you're active and reasonably fit now, with reasonable eating habits, I think you'll probably be alright.

42 now and in the best shape of my life (except for maybe my late teens when i skateboarded 8+ hours/day). former powerlifter at 6' / 275#. had to quit due to injuries and went right to crap.

fought the pudge with cycling, fencing and boxing. now i'm 190 and commute to work by bike. with around 100mi/week for fun.

i will never tell anyone they need to fit a certain body type. i know a female triathlete that looks like a chubby fireplug, but is a machine. it's about getting out there and being active.

while all my friends are worrying about knee problems and obesity, the bike saved my life. keep up the good work and have fun.

I was fat about 8 months ago. 191cm and I was closing in on 105kg. That really annoyed me. Sold the car and motorcycles, got me some bicycles and cycled 300-400km a week non stop for 8 months. Got myself down to 85kg with very little fat left. I can even see my abs these days - first time in at least 25 years. Have to say I've never felt better in my 40 years of life. Also dropped from a 38 inch waist to 32 and about 2 shirt sizes as well.

I'm 5'9".

Was 165lb. at my best, during early 20's.

Hit 235lb. at my worst, late last year / early this year.

Back down to 200lb. flat today.

Aiming for 175.

Yep. Me on the left, circa 2008ish at a hair under 6'3" and about 300-310lbs. All I cared about was lifting heavy things and drinking beer.

Couple years later after I started cycling and realizing I would die of heart failure. About 255lbs in this photo

230-240 range now and still slowly coming down. The only lifting I do now is some olympic lifting a couple of times a week. Cycling, swimming and eating like a champ are my ways now. I live in the NW - beer will never go away.

Just keep at it. Ride enough and you can't help hit 180-190 pounds. Getting below that and riding a lot is hard though. The more you ride, the more you eat. I don't mind being 85kg. Any thinner and there would be nothing left but massive leg muscles and bones. :)

started last year december around 330lbs.
keep going between 235-240 right now. Still trying to lose a lot more. I wanna say my goal is like 180 idk though I gotta see how my body keeps changing and where it goes. Dads side of the family is all fat so I feel like I'm always gonna be a bigger guy.

It was all due to me changing my diet and buying a bike then just telling myself to ride everyday. Almost a year later and I have given up my car and commute on my bike.

@jd: adding facial hair was also a good move

I got up to 260 once, then down to 190 by running. then back up to 240 when my gf moved in, then back down to 200 when she moved out. then new gf and back up to 240 after another 2 year relationship. now i'm single again, but still have pizza running through my veins. I know how to do it though by now, it's just a matter of actually doing it.

if I get married I'll probably be 400lbs
