I selected twinkie ... but only in how well it holds together when thrown as a projectile.

Ding Dongs have their own song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPrnduGtgmc
Sno-balls are on the buffet in Hell.
They had their chance.
Where is the true winner, Hostess cream filled chocolate cupcake, in all this. All the others don't have a Snowball's chance in hell of winning....

Suxy-Q's are missing on the list, my fav.

The only one from that list I've ever eaten was a Snowball, which I really only like for the sake of nostalgia.

Y'all need to note the correct spelling.
My wife went running around the neighborhood when she heard Hostess was shutting down. Her haul:

And I can honestly say, your life is poorer for neven eaten of the industrial manna that is Hostess. They were to Big Agriculture like the cherubim is to the Heavenly Host.
Plus the stuff was totally archival. A Ho Ho's half life is like more than the Jurassic.

I do feel deprived but I grew up in a family of bakery owners.
There was never a shortage of baked goods.

jdon... ahsposo isn't talking about baked goods.
Hostess products may have similar characteristics, but they reside in a class all their own. Like maybe Splenda, powdered milk; except Hostess products actually taste good.

Boy, if I was a few pounds lighter, I would get up off the couch and chase you down for that.

Those overly sweet fruit pies may be the only thing edible made (past tense) by hostess....and even then, edible is subject to discussion.

The summer county fair will not be the same without deep fried Hostess products. :(
Fruit flavored pies FTW. However, I don't recommend the cherry. While tasty, it looks like blood when you hurl it up.

These (apple version only) and the individual bear claws were far and away the best. Funny bones were pretty decent though too. And the donettes (especially the crunch flavored ones) were ok as well. All horrible for you, but I've surfed a few vending machines in my younger days and have the extra 40 pounds around my waist as evidence of that (and also some poor fast food choices when I was younger).

You dis the deep-fried twinkie?!?
A plump large guy at work was pale, hyperventilating and ready to pass out.
I held a Hostess Twinkie under his nose till EMS arrived and was credited with saving his life.

Maybe eBay will form a major piece of their distribution in the New Order.
Think of all the highly skilled labor out in the streets of Ohio if the Hostess factory closes.

You're both from the South, where they fry green beans for God's sake. :P Don't knock fried junk food until you've tried it!
That fried Twinkie is missing a dousing of chocolate syrup, BTW.

I didn't realize until right now how much I'm going to miss those college visits to the Hostess Bakery Thrift Store (that my now wife and I used to call the Used Bread Store) for cheap, unhealthful Hostess treats and lots of cheap bread (sometimes you could get it for like 6 loaves for a dollar) to go feed the ducks in the river that wound through our university. Actually did that the night we got engaged (the duck feeding, had gone to get the bread the day before).

We used to go to one of those when I was a kid, entered a contest and won $5 of merchandise, men five bucks in the "used bread store" was a ton of stuff, we ate like pigs for weeks, had to freeze some of the stuff to make it last.

But I'm pretty sure Hostess owns/makes Drakes, so those are all gone too, right?
