Mountain Biking - What the huck is hucking

Im a newbie, I know, but im curious what a huckable bike is.

Does it have to do with jumping? Is a Giant Rainier huckable?

From what I understand it just means jumping or dropping off something. It's such a slang term it means different things in different sports.

Isn't it amusing that there's a whole class of bikes designed around how much distance you can cover - vertically. Whatever it takes to keep you going, I guess - different strokes for different folks. I prefer horizontal distances myself. :)

A huck is just a drop 3'+ that is taken with speed and just wheelied(sp) off of :thumbup:

(or at least this is what me and my buddys classify a huck)

No offense but, 3 feet? I "drop" about 4 to 5 ft to flat on a hardtail and don't consider that a huck. I know some guys who do huck like 10-12 feet to transition. Now that's hucking. Its also friggin' insane, but its definately hucking. :D

Shane I never said I only did 3' drops I said we just considered that and anything bigger a "huck". I have a KONA STUFF, it would have been a waste of money to buy it if I was only doing 3' drops

I'm sorry guys. I didn't mean to come across as an ass. I figured after I posted that it looked a little brash. I have a habit of eating my own words at times too. And yup, 4-5 ft to flat isn't big either. Its the level I'm at right now and having fun with so it keeps me happy.

I guess what I meant was that even what I do I wouldn't consider hucking. I've ridden with guys who do the crazy stuff and I just amazes me the guts these guys have. I mean what level of courage and skill do you have when you can say, "hey watch me jump off that there cliff!!" or "I'm gonna build a 12ft ladder bridge so I can jump my bike off it!" Just crazy. Anyways my apologies. :(

Hey don't worry about it. Sounds like we're at about the same level, my younger brother is one of those "hey look a roof, think I can land it?" "Watch this" kind of person and it amazes me that he can do that stuff.
