Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Another 12 metric century challenge?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Started the last one late and lost interest/forgot about it after the thread was unstickied, maybe, just perhaps, we could do a new one starting Jan. 1?
Propose that rules are: Do 12 metric centuries over the year, starting Jan. 1. Update after each one (pictures encouraged). No prizes other than a virtual pat on the back from fellow members.
Thoughts? Make it a yearly thing?

In point of fact, I intendedfto make it an annual event, with an even dozen winners each year, as well, starting on January. I was going to announce on New Years Day, but I might as well let the cat out of the bag now. Yes, we're going to do it annually.

There we go annually.

I better start training. I think my longest fixed ride has been 48 miles.

Refresh my memory, could this be done with just a cyclocompter and a timestamped photo? Or do I need a GPS?
Nagrom_

No gps needed.

So 62 miles is a metric century? And is there a prize now?

I'm in too. This is gonna be a piece of cake. Before it started getting cold I was going on 65-70 mile rides every weekend.
Wait, do I have to use my sweet fixie?

He did a nice write up too. Try searching for it. Look for the last metric thread, find him and look at his started threads.

that time it worked
wow...now I feel lazy and out of shape.
My record-keeping isn't perfect, but I've done at least 182 centuries since 2004. 37 of them have been on fixed-gear bikes, so I know a few things about riding 100 miles -- most of it learned the hard way.

I'm interested. Never got around to doing a full century this year, but I did 3 or 4 metric centuries fixed.

And he stopped contributing to this sub-section mostly because our main posting moderator acts like a child.
I'd recommend targeted searching through some of Rowan's posts/threads as well. He's got an abundance of fixed-distance knowledge.

I would have thought he stopped posting here because he doesn't really ride a fixed gear (he has two brakes!)
