Mountain Biking - Stem question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am tall, but most of my height is in my legs. Last year I purchased a Rockhopper. The size is great for my leg length, but I feel stretched out and a bit out of balance and feel that more weight is on my arms than I would like. I am thinking of going with a shorter stem. I believe the current length is 80mm.
Would the shorter stem solve my problem? Any suggestions as to length? Would an angled stem also be an option? I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
If nobody has any thoughts I'll probably just get something a bit shorter and experiment.

How tall are you? What size frame is your rockhopper?

Frame is 23, I am 6'4"
Frame may be a bit too big.

Shorter stem, taller bar, or both. It's fun to experiment.

Try a shorter stem, but I wouldn't go much past 60-70mm to start.
You might also try working out your core. It will let you stay in a more aggressive position longer.
