As the county trails are closed on Thanksgiving, I did my Thanksgiving MTB ride yesterday. I really enjoy Thanksgiving because it's so easy to think about your problems instead of all the good things in your life. So it's great to think about why life is good.
For me, I'm thankful that at in my old age, I can still ride a mountain bike on single track technical trails. I'm glad both of my sons are safe in an unsure world, although I wish both were at home with us. I'm glad I have a great, beautiful wife, although we both deal with her MS. I guess I could be upset about being laid off, but I'm glad I found another job, (but I have to travel every week).
OF course, while I was thinking about all this, I lost concentration on the ride. You know what's coming next. Yup, got snake bit, but I recovered nicely, right up until I hit the tree. But hey, that's mountain biking so I did what we all do. Got back on the bike, finished the ride, just being thankful but focused on the trail.
(Hope you enjoyed this).

Well, sorta, you hit a tree ;P lol

Nice positive post though. We don't celebrate thanksgiving here in Belgium, we're ungrateful bastards.

I suppose you can now also be thankful that you didn't break a hip. Harder to replace your own bottom bracket than the one on your bike. How old are you anyway?

As a "senior rider" (soon to be 59) I enjoyed your post. Sorry about your wife's MS. It is good to be thankful and enjoy the good things life has.

And leave it to Mountain biking to keep you "grounded in reality!" Watch those trees.

Thank you for a reminder to enjoy what you have and not to dwell on what you don't.
