Bicycle Mechanics - BB30 questions

I got a new Cannondale bike that came with FSA SL-K Compact BB30 crankset. I have an older bottom bracket, Shimano BB-6500, 68 mm English (1.37x24), Octalink V1, and a matching crankset.

Will this adapter allow me to mount my old BB and crankset on the bike? Are there any pitfalls I need to know about?

I was you I wouldn't take the crankset out, non sense doing that, the crankset will work fine with any drive train you want to use so why to remove it???

No idea how that adapter works just in case but again I dont see the logic on taking the BB crankset out to install that ancient shimano crank. You wont spend money to start with.

"Ancient" Shimano is a custom 155 mm crank. The crank that came with the bike is 172.5. I'll give it a shot but I don't have much faith in my knees on a 172.5. If it does not work, the choice is between installing the Shimano or getting a new FSA BB30 165 mm crank.

you have to lower the saddle and move the saddle to the front aswell.

Hope somebody knows how to use that thing because I have no idea about the adapter.

the fsa adapter and park tool is what you need. you will also need a press to install the adapter. use loctite 609 to mount the adapter

I have short legs, 29" inseam. Also, I think that most short people would be better off with these sizes, they end up using 170 mm cranks simply because shorter cranks are hard to find. I put around 2500 miles and 200,000 feet of climbing on my previous 155 mm crank, it was quite comfortable.

Hmm, any idea if I can get by with standard tools, e.g. a vise? I really don't want to buy a headset press. I'm leaning towards taking everything to a shop.

Rather than that, do what I did for my 11-yr-old on his SuperX that uses BB30. I got the Wheels Manufacturing adapters for 24mm cranks, i.e. Shimano Hollowtech. Then I got a Tiagra crank in 175mm and sent it off to http://bikesmithdesign.com/Short_Cranks/shorten.html and had it reduced to 155mm. No Loctite or permanent modifications needed to the frame.
