When I was in Scotland many years ago there was a shop selling ox tail soup and a sausage for like 50p. I asked the lady if there was really ox tail in the soup and she said, "Well laddie are there really peas in peasoup?"
The soup by the way was incredible.
It was delish.
Don't type like that. Delish isn't a word.

Osso Buco?
Osso bucco comes from the leg. Ox-tail is the polite way of saying cow tail. Ox tail is tasty if cooked properly.

Don't subject yourself to that.

The Puerto Ricans got it from the Cubans.
It is called "rabo encendido" (tail on fire) and it is made out of cow's tail, not oxen.
That cow tail candy stuff is for wimps!

This statement is dis-functional unless Mango is a second party to a dude or security dood.
Let me check with our inhouse Spanish gormet "extrodinair".
Hey Ruben,
You ever fry up the ass end of a cow?

I'm afraid this is a new one for me. Never really heard of the cow tail. I can however, conform, that in PR, such dish would definitelly be cow and not ox. We don't have ox. We have cows and pigs.
I do remember that there's nothing off the pig that is not stwed/deep-fried/baked or prepared in some other way. About the cow, I also remember that the opposite end (cow's tongue - lengua de baca) is indeed very popular.
I shall reserach with my resident contacts and report...
Back...
A quick call to my local contacts has confirmed that indeed cow's tail is a PR dish. However, instead of being called "rabo de vaca", it is usually reffered to as "rabo de ternera" and sometimes "rabo de buey".

Once again my source to all things unique comes through again.
It appears the Ricans have all the gormet foods but the Cubans have all the babes.
Even in tropical paradise life is still unfair.

Ox tail soup is popular in Jamaica as well.
And we recently Oxtail Pho from a Vietnamese restaurant that was quite good.

Acere, tus contactos estan equivocado. El rabo encendido es Cubano. El rabo encendido that I had in San Juan was but a pale sample of what you can get in Cuban restaurants in Miami and New York. Some Dominican restaurants have pretty good rabo encendido...but the real rabo encendido is still a Cuban dish.
Puedes reclamar al arroz con gandules como algo tuyo, pero el rabo encendido es todo nuestro.

Some Puerto Rican girls are pretty hot. Ask the Stones (insert oblique reference to "Miss You" here).

I hereby formally request UN intervention to resolve the international dispute about which Island cooked a cow's tale first. I've already requested all shipping logs from the Spain's Historical Archives, to determine which Island got the first cow shipments, back in the 1,500s.

Well, since Cristobal Colon made landfall in Cuba before he made it to Puerto Rico, then I guess that settles that.
It is also a historical fact that when Colon brought cows to Cuba (in his first voyage) the local Taino Indians treated old Colon to a barbacoa (BBQ). Thus the first ever BBQ is also Cuban. :D
Once again my post goes totally unnoticed.
You failed in your presentation by not stating first that your relatives were Cuban or Ricans in post #26.
As far as we know, they could of come from another planet where they also cook cow ass/tails.
Because you omitted these facts Chef Rubester might win this debate and it's all your fault.
You have to start at the other end for Kosher.
