Bicycle Mechanics - Portable stand for a wall-mount-style work stand?

I scored a cheap Park wall-mount workstand on Craiglist (woo!) but I really would prefer to mount it to something like a tripod that would allow me to move it around. Any ideas? Anybody ever done this before and have any tips? I was thinking hose clamps to a PA speaker stand..?

Given it is anticipating a flat surface ... a 4x4 post, set in concrete poured in an old car tire?

you could use square steel tube as well .

heavy bottom weight, portable, tip it over and roll on the tire.

Leg on PA speaker stand would have to be right under the part shown,
and perhaps, in the way, often. [or tip over, easily]

And you're not going to like this, but:

(1) Buy a portable stand and
(2) mount that one on your wall.

I'm sure it is possible to mount it to some sort of tripod-like device, but it won't be easy to do it in such a way that it's stable and still portable. Fietsbob's suggestion above would work (I would offset the post to ensure it doesn't tip over with a bike pulling down on it).

A suitably stout speaker stand could be a viable solution if the legs extend far enough or it's counterweighted to ensure it won't tip over.

I once built a homemade workstand using a 4' length of 2" steel pipe threaded on both ends and screwed into a "floor flange" that was bolted to a 2' square base of doubled 3/4" plywood. I used a 90° Elbow and 2"x1" reducer on top of the upright and threaded in a horizontal piece of 1" pipe to hold an adjustable "pipe clamp". You could do something similar by drilling the top of the 2" pipe and bolting your Park clamp directly to it.

Easy solution would be cast iron flange and a length of pipe and some u bolts.

Attach flange to something heavy, maybe an old steel car wheel, thread pipe into flange, u bolt the bike holder to pipe.

Go to a junk yard and get a mini spare. The ones that are only to be used to get you a few miles. Some of them are full size on the diameter but are thin much smaller on thickness. Get a piece of ¾ plywood and drill a few holes (3) to match the lug holes to bolt it down and a 4x4 lagged to the end for a upright. If you are more handy a pipe flange and pipe with some U bolts to mount what you have.

Fortunately, you won't need his clamp mechanism, but the base is good.
