I'm looking for a new iPhone 4S case to replace my OtterBox Defender. There are just too many choices out there so I'm appealing to the Foo hive mind to guide me.

My problem with the OtterBox is the silicone shell is stretching and tearing, and I've heard replacements don't fix the problem. I do have a brand new still-in-box Defender that OtterBox sent me under warranty. I don't want to install it due to the shell problem. I'd rather just get something else.

What I'm looking for is:
Outer shell that doesn't stretch.
Built-in screen protection like the Defender or the LifeProof case.
Fits aftermarket plugs without adapters. (LifeProof seems to have problems here.)

I don't need waterproof. I'm not abusive to my devices, so I don't need bomb-proof either.

Rather it not be overly bulky. The Defender adds bulk but IMO not too much. It has to slip into an arm band for running.

What say you?!

There are more cases out there than the tour de France has spokes.

I have a Griffin case on my iphone4. It is relatively thin, provides good protection of the phone all the way around, and offers a slight amount of friction for your fingers so the phone doesn't slip out of your hands or whatever. My daughter has a harder case that she bought at Target. It is about as thin as my case but pretty and shiny. It doesn't provide the cushion for the phone or the additional grip for your hands.

My wife just got a new iphone5. I bought her a Speck candyshell case. It is pretty and shiny on the outside with a soft inside layer that provides cushion for the phone.

Well, I think I'm going to get this Element Formula case. It lacks the integrated screen protection, but I'll deal with that.
