Thinking of buying one, comments on the web are mostly good but some say "don't touch" your opinion will be helpful. Heard its the best bike for the buck ($800)

8" rotors, unless they make something besides 6" and 8" that i don't know about.

For some reason they look bigger than 8 inch

203mm (8")

I love this bike... Weigh's in @ 35 lbs. It's great for any type of riding XC, DH, FR, you name it, it can do it....

It'll be a year old in March, I hate to see it go....

BTW. The bike itself cost me $1000, my upgrades took it to 2K....

Gee wish I could afford one, but I have a bike I like so can't complain.

An 8 inch rotor is 203mm accross, apparently a couple of DHer's have been experimenting with 230mm rotors. I'm not totally sure weather this is just e-speculation but I heard it on an Aussie forum

Wow an 8 inch rotor provides great stopping power, wonder what an extra 27mm would do?

6 to 8 increased by 33%...I imagine it would be similar

But I'm looking at a brand new 2004 model not 2005

Well, I don't think the specs would change that much, looking at the 05 (which I hope is similar, or else this post is useless) it has pretty good components, fork, rear shock ect. Sounds like a nice bike I'd buy it if I had the money.

Here are the 2004 specs:
http://www.harobikes.com/2004/extremex2/

With a Fox is the rear on the 2004 and a Manitou on the 2005, the 04 seems yummier on paper. Most of the other components seems comparable. Looks like a nice bike. 35 pounds doesnŽt sound bad especially if it will take the bigger drops. Price isnŽt bad either. I think IŽll have to consider this. :)

i think magura makes a 7inch rotor.

that's correct, my friend. the magura julies come standard with a 7" rotor for the front, 6" for the back.

I think I would take a fox in the back rather than Manitou, so 04 sounds good. It has basicly the same components. I say it again I would buy one if I had the cash.

You can also get Anchor/Dice/Armour (they're all the same) discs with 7" rotors.

there is a company who have just brought out a 230mm rotor, I think they were called Alpine-something. I read it in MBUK

Just remember, the bigger the rotor, the bigger the weight factor....

Have a nice ride!
;)

BTW, here's one I missed (whilst gone ridin' of course) but was watching on eBAY.... What a deal, huh?

$1100 MSRP

I am ordering the Extreme X2 from Vancouver as I write this. This bike better be good. I just had a Norco piece of crap so I am expecting a lot from the '05 X2. The fork on it doesnt really impress me. The Stance Lineup seems crap. Especially the blunt. At my bike shop, they tell me that I will be replacing it soon. Just hope this bike can handle Whistler!
