Winter Cycling - Anyone heard of good vegan boots?

I'm planning on switching out my SPD's for platforms this winter and don't have any boots that couldn't double as waders, so I'm looking for boots. Not just like good vegan winter boots, but ones that you could actually wear riding: low top or freedom of movement at the ankle. I've seen some boots that are either vegan, or low-top, but not both at once. Anyone know of any that fit both A and B?

Most of the inexpensive shoes and boots are synthetic leather nowadays. But make sure they cover your ankles and have thick padding around the ankles. This is most important for keeping feet warm in winter riding. For below freezing conditions oversized nylon Cordura hikers with thick soles work well. Gortex ones are great. They breath well which is what you want to keep your foot warm and dry. Just use thick socks with them for insulation. For wet conditions it depends how wet things really are. If your not going to putting your feet in actual flows of water that is ankle deep than Gortex/Cordura hikers work great. Problem is that the Gortex boots are likely to be higher quality and use some leather. The only alternative I know is to flip the bill for an expensive pair of light weight mountaineering boots.

They are great on platform pedals because they have a stiff sole made for crampons and alpine climbing. In the 200-350 USD price range but sometimes you can find discontinued models that are discounted.

for super cold conditions, USAF mukluks are vegan.

For slop, get some rubber galoshes and put them over your existing shoes. or get winter crocs.

and isn't almost ALL cheap footwear vegan, like those found at Payless or the Walmart?

I'd be confident a lot of cheap Bean boot knockoffs found in discount retailers are 100 percent vinyl.

I wear Garmont vegan hiking boots for actual hiking, but they're probably too stiff for riding. (I just wear sneakers for winter riding, but my feet run warm.)

I currently wear neoprene diving boots it's perfect for transition toward winter. In fact last winter i went through the canadian winter with them, a boot liner and a neoprene cycling cover all the way up to -36F/5hrs but it requires some work to go there. Alone it's more like 45/50F/2hrs. It has a very soft feeling because the whole boot is flexible.

Yeah, I've got some Bogs but they're absolute hell to ride in - the soles are so big they cause all sorts of issues just staying on my Odyssey platforms. Definitely liking the look of the V-lite Altitude Max's and the Oceanic diving boots. It is kind of funny that the cheap stuff is vegan: kind of like buying potatoes vs. buying steak. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have used a pair of Merrell hiking boots that are both waterproof and insulated for the last 3 winters and love them.
