Mountain Biking - New Shoes....I'm stupid

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I ordered these shoes...they're 40 bucks...and I wanted to try something else out. the reviews seemed pretty good about them and for 40 bucks I figured why not, the color scheme I got is only blue/black...not that horrid mixture there.
Does anyone on here use these?

Did you get these? How are they? I just ordered a set for my wife....she actually wanted that horrid color. I was able to find the Yellow, Black and Purple on the net and IMO they are worse then these in color combo.
So what do you think?

Hey thanks. Me thinks the wife should have gotten the Black and Blue as TRD did but hey if she is willing to rock the Yellow, Silver and Blue more power to her. Guess I got a good enough deal then.

it's a killer deal and you have to break them in a bit. the first few times they're OK and they get more comfy...and they're uber breathable.

Hey TRD, I think I remember reading that you have the eggbeaters on your bike. I have a set on the way and was considering these shoes. How are they with the egg cleats when you walk? And how is the blue/black combo? The picture of the other colors is NOT going to work for me...

I don't have eggbeaters...I have mallets, which use the same mechanism. I like the mechanism ALOT...it's so smooth. As far as walking in the cleats, nothing worse than the SPD cleats the clop a tad bit...

Are these proprietary to Nashbar? If so, I'd steer clear. I've owned several pieces of Performance (same company) apparel and have always been more than disappointed.

No. Crank Bros makes them. If you read up on the reviews...every pedal they make is well liked.
I've had a pair of Performance MTB shoes that have held up for several years. They're comfortable for me, and are easy to clean and quick to dry.

Thanks for the info. Do the blue/black ones glare like the ones pictured on the Nashbar site?

Click the link above in the thread. TRD has a photo of the Black and Blue in another thread. They look VERY nice. Also avoid the Black Yellow Purple I saw them on eBay and they aren't that great either.
