That depends on the non-profit. Both my wife and I work for non-profits, but different types. Hers in funded almost entirely by grants, mine by the product we produce. The pay at both is commensurate with what it would be if we worked at for profits. Both in salary and benfits.

There is plenty of $ in NP work. You just need to know the right people and organizations.
