Mountain Biking - sigma BC1600 comment wanted

currently using cateye OS1.0 but i dont like it suddently loss all recorded data when changing battery.
does anyone have any comments of BC1600? any advice will be thank you.

I use the BC 1200 and is very happy with that one.. On my computer you can enter in the total distance manually if you have to change the battery. I'm not shure as if it keeps the wheel measurement when you replace the battery, but all you have to do is write it down.

omg... the bc1600 user manual aren't very friendly about tire size... i think i need a math teacher to set my correct tire size. but $31 dollars with cadence sensor is really a bargain.

I have been using the BC1600 for little over a year now. This is hands down the best cycling computer I've owned so far. I especially value the fact that it seems to cope well with the rain. Other than that, the display is nice (I like the option to mount the unit on your stem) and functionality is good.

My only problem so far has been in the cadence department. It worked flawlessly for a long time, but as of recent I am either not getting a RPM readout, or getting one which is way off (like 1200 or 40). Sporadically, without me intervening, the numbers are correct for a short while. I figure this has to do with positioning the cadence sensor on the chain stay. But for some reason I cannot get it right again... Funny, since I installed everything myself...

maybe a new cadence sensor unit will fix the problem?

i've test ride with the new computer for a hours... everything features is good on BC1600. clear readout, functionable. except the tire size chart, i have difficult on setting it up... size mm x 3.14... that really makes me crazy... Cateye has an advantage here on setting up the correct tire size

I thought about that one, but I guess that the sensor isn't actually broken, given that it sometimes functions... But if I don't succeed in replicating that success shortly, I will definitely order a replacement. The rest of the computer is simply too good to be dismissed.

Glad you like it. Perhaps you could try to contact your tyre manufacturer and ask them for the exact measurements or even circumference (yeah, I know, at your tire pressure and under your 'load'). I did so before installing my Sigma: Continental gave me a good number to do the math with.
