Mountain Biking - 2003 gary fisher tassajara

I'm trying to buy a used bike from a guy online. He said it was a 2003 gary tassajara I asked for a picture and it looked to me more like a 1999. Does anyone own a 1999 or 2003 Tassajara and could confirm which year it is. Here is a picture. Thanks for the help, because I don't want to get rippep off on this.

here's a link to the gary fisher archive. it's got pictures of all the bikes with their different paint schemes on it. the picture you posted is kind of dark, but from the looks of it, it doesn't look like a 2003...

The bike has the right paint job for a 2k3.... However, it has the wrong fork, seat, cranks, etc. The 2003 comes with a Rock Shox Pilot XC, not a Jett. I'd almost believe it's a 2003 that he's downgraded and kept the nicer stuff for his new bike. Heck, it even looks to have square taper cranks on it! I sent an email saying that I, along with my helpful bikeforum members believed it was not from 2003 or wasn't all original. I left him an out saying, "maybe someone sold you a 1999 and told you it was a 2003." We'll see if he takes this out or not. Looking back at some of his previous correspondance he seemed a bit reluctant, especially when I said I wanted the number of the bike shop where he was going to take it for a tune-up so I could talk to them and find out about the bike.

oops, sorry about that. i thought i had pasted the url into my post.

Its not a 2003, atleast not froming comparing the archive picture to that picture. Look at where the downtube and top tube meet, they are much closer together on the archive picture than on that other picture. It also seems that the archive bike has a much more sloping headtube than the picture you posted. From what I can tell, the guy is joshin you.

seat post and seat look suspicious too. look to be a downgrade...

Well I called the sale off. The guy claims he bought if off ebay and and was told it was an 03 so he just assumed it was. I guess I don't like to assume the worst in people so I'll believe that he got ripped off. Anyways thank for the help on this folks.
