Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - SRAM Omnium Crank Arm Stuck

I really didn't want to make a whole thread for this but while I was swapping the Omnium crank arms between my bikes, the drive side crank arm on one of them would not come out. I easily removed both sides on my Kilo, but on the Histogram, the drive side would not even budge. I got the left side off fine, I don't see anything keeping the other side from coming out but it just won't move.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to do something with the bottom bracket to get it out? I used all my force and spent almost an hour just trying to pull it but no progress at all.

Santaria, while I appreciate what you are trying to do (seriously I do) , I am well aware of the other threads. I decided that it would not be the best place to post because this isn't just a quick and straightforward answer. I wanted to know if my technique was wrong, why it may be happening (so it doesn't happen again) and any possible solutions. Plus this is specific to a specific crank set or at least an external bearing one. I know Scrod will see this thread and I'm not doubting his mechanic skills at all, I'm just looking for any knowledge that anyone has.

It's actually a very straightforward answer.

This is a pretty common "problem", usually caused by overtightening the NDS crank bolt. You're not going to be able to pull it out. As Nate said, tap the spindle with a rubber mallet or a wood block and hammer.

The omnium is a great crank. Not saying to get something else. Just saying get a second crankset so you don't have to constantly be swapping back and forth between bikes. That can, as you already saw, get really annoying.

This is actually a thing? I can barely tolerate doing that with any part even once in a while, even pedals or tires, let alone the whole damn crankset/bb on a consistent basis.

Oh I don't think I worded my original statement properly. I have two sets of Omniums, I was just swapping the arms because I prefer the 170s I have more.

At any rate, you should still trade one of your omniums for one that's the right length so you don't have to bother with any more swapping.

Haha! That is a good idea, I don't mind the different lengths that much, I just prefer a certain size on each frame for their different purposes.

And for anyone else with the same issue, if you don't have a hammer or mallet, I got it out by grabbing the frame and stepping on the exposed other end of drive side crank arm just enough to pop it out.

Who doesn't own a hammer (or something that can be used as a hammer)?

I own both tools, but I currently live in a dorm and did not bring anything that resembles a hammer. :(

Even prehistoric man had the sense to use rocks and a stick.

I've tried everything, from using the bottom of my shoe, the back of my wrench, and even having someone else pull the frame while I pulled the crank. Nothing would budge it until I finally decided to just step on it as it would be my most powerful option and it does not even require tools.
