Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Help with choosing bike company.

Hey,

I'm trying to get my first fixed gear bike. I've been reading these threads a little bit, but I still don't know which company I should go with. Sole? State Bicycle? Purefix? Or a Mercier kilo TT? I hear a lot of people say go for the Mercier. But isn't it pretty much made in the same factories as all these other overnight Fixie Bike Companies? Which would you recommend for a starter fixie and why?

I would recommend hanging out on the forum for a little while and doing a little reading. Seriously, it will do you some good and prevent you from spending money on something you know very little about or that you may end up not liking.

I'm really not trying to be a dick, I'm just being honest. This has been discussed a million times over at this point and there is no quick, definitive answer (aside from the standard "Kilo TT").

what happened to going to bike shops btw?...i knew really nothing at first but went to a few bike shops to learn....Most people are nice, and if they are not don't buy from them

+1, but looking at the OP's choices I don't think he has the budget for an LBS bike.

It may be a regional thing, but a lot of bike shops I've been to in the PNW are fairly lolwut when it comes to fixed gear.

Maybe get your complete and check out the bike shop when you need help with labor, tools, and parts?

The last time I went to a local shop, before I bought my bike, and asked about fixed, they got pretty derpy. They had almost no clue what kind of things I was asking.
