It's official guys -- we've got 2 weeks. Need some good ideas.

My gf is a go-out-and-do-things person but not so much a go-out-to-dinner girl, and she especially hates crowds, so we're staying in; I provide the chicken alfredo (from scratch, is good) and she provides the dessert.
She's also the one who got me into biking [1], and she's said "ooh, those look neat", so depending on the weather I'm gonna rent a tandem and we can ride around. :p

[1] She's not REALLY into cycling, but she has a wal-mart bike she liked to tool around on and got me to get a bike to ride with. I got a decent mtb from the lbs and the rest is history--and the present!

1 guy - check
1 gal - check
1 chicken alfredo - check
1 dessert - check

add...
1 chik flick
1 bottle of wine
1 block of cheese & crackers
1 homemade card with mushy stuff written in it
(or 1 hallmark card with brief mushy stuff written it it

I like AlphaGeek's idea. Also, take her out to the park maybe during the day, I'm taking my gf to the Greenbelt and just walk around. I don't know if I'm going to back a lunch or maybe go to a little restruant afterwards.

If you can afford it, you might consider a mini-vacation. I can't afford it but I do quite a bit of travelling so I have a bunch of FF miles saved up and actually my company has me in Stockholm all next week and then in Paris during the week of Valentine's Day. As such, I'm using miles to fly my wife out for an extended weekend. If you don't have the miles, the airlines have been running some pretty good deals to Europe so you might want to check it out.

If you can't find the money for a trip overseas, look closer to home. There are spas around that offer Valentine's specials all the time. Some hotels that are more upscale may be running valentine's specials also. For instance, a couple of 4 and 5 star hotels in Chicago are running valentine's day night packages from $69 and up. Check in at 11am, and check out the following day. Some have champaigne and chocolate strawberries, roses, etc. offered with the room. Most have jacuzzis also. Some organizations are also holding valentine's day dinner events at hotels and such, where they have private dinners.

You'll have to do a bit of investigating in your area- start by calling the more upscale hotels in your area and asking if they are running a valentine's day special for one evening in a suite. Then you can surprise your gf with a tandem ride, then a home cooked dinner, then whisk her off to a 5 star for the evening, with champaigne and strawberries in the jacuzzi. She won't even know how little it costs- she'll just be impressed with how far you went to give her a nice evening.

Then get busy like rabbits (minus spawn). ;)

MsVicki, that is WAY too open ended :D

I usually treat 1 day a month as a valentines kind of day so when feb 14 rolls around
it's no big deal. . .
flowers (long stem Tyler roses!), dinner out, handmade chocolate truffles usually
works around my house (except making truffles is a shared job).

I got a T-shirt made that says "F*** Valentines Day". I wore it out last year and people were buying me drinks all night long. Another trumped up lame Halmark holiday. Why do people need a specific date to be extra romantic? I can be romantic, but I don't need a reminder.

/Steps down off soapbox :p .
//Deep down inside is really sad he will be alone, again, on St. Valentine's Day  .

What do you GUYS like to get for Valentine's Day?

In all seriousness, when my wife says, "let's skip Valentine's Day. It's a waste of meney."

How do you make a woman hot you ask?

Who cares. One day they will learn that it's not emotional for us men and it's all about the "hit and run" or the "stick and move"

Flowers, a dinner out, a dinner IN that I would not have to cook, a burned cd of love songs, a sweet Valentine's Day card....all are my favorites.

What do you GUYS like to get for Valentine's Day?

Lengerie. Oh, and someone other than me wearing it, female possibly.

AH! Valentine's day is dumb! But as a girl the bike ride on a Tandem in a nice park with a packed lunch would be great! But then again it would be great anytime and would definately get it's rewards! HAHA!

Not huge on Valentine's Day, but this year will be good. I've got a Valentine (even though she has a boyfriend), and she likes me back. I'm making her an awesome mixtape with burlap, silk, and vellum packaging, and I'm probably going to kiss her for the first time.

M&M's eh? I used to know a girl who craved Twinkies and Ding-Dongs, I bought them by the case. ;)

We have been planning a special evening too, trying to find edible cycle shorts, anyone have a source?

Haha, it's better than any other Valentine's Day I've had before. Especially last year. Besides, the boyfriend situation is only temporary...

You guys apparently don't have the .wmv file collection that I have. I would send whomever a free cd (gratis all the way), however, no way to confirm your age of at least 18. Sorry.
