Mountain Biking - 2005 Deore Disc Hubs

I was thinking of making custom wheels for my bike, including Deore disc hubs and Mavic XM 321 disc rims. I have been reading a few bad reviews on the web , about how on the Deore hubs the axles are breaking and other problems. Most of the reviews mentioned that they were doing significant jumps, that could be a reason. I'm and XC rider that doesnt like to do very high jumps (maybe 1-2.5 feet), do you think these hubs will break for that kind of riding?

well they are also pretty heavy. On my first wheelset i was considering these due to the price but the reviews steered me away. YOu might as well go with XT stuff, its still not very expensive. YOu can pick it up on ebay and the XT stuff is rather nice i think. Fully servicable and bombproof.

are theese the ones that are "flangeless"? If so make sure that you get all of your measurements for your rim and hub correct, otherwise you might spend a small fortune in spokes.

unless you are on a total tight budget, spend a bit more for the lx or xt level. much nicer/lighter. and unless you are a big dude, or very unsmooth on the bike, for the riding you're describing, 321 hoops may be a bit of overkill too. take a peak at the 719 or 819 rim models.

and seriously, check out e-bay. some great deals on hubs and rims on there much of the time. you can get some much nicer parts that way if you shop around.

I have the LX version basically and so far they've been bomb froom for me.
