Until around 3 months ago, didn't ride a bike since grade school. You know, the one with the basket on the handlebars? Grade school was back in the early 60's if you get my drift LOL.

When the doc said I needed to bike to strengthen my knees, someone dropped off an old Huffy mountainbike that had been left outside in the elements for a couple of years. I toyed around with it until I began taking it on 15 mile rides down A1A on the beach. I decided I needed a better more comfortable bike and tomorrow I'm coming home with a new one from my local bike dealer. I'm psyched and ready to ride. If I could do 15 miles on that thing, just wait...

I like to ride on A1A and watch the sun rise over the ocean and I enjoy riding through the local parks. I'd like to find others who aren't in a hurry to leisurely tour Florida at a comfortable pace anywhere up the East Coast or through the panhandle as a group.

Glad I found this site and hope to make some friends here.

Kathy

Kathy,
Welcome to the forums. I lived in Boca for a while and call Miami my home. Nice to have some more FL cyclists on the forums.

Oh yeah. We do have a very dangerous Cheesecake Factory. It is NOT my friend. No, no, no!! When it comes to nutrition, there's no place like home. Did I say that??

Welcome to BikeForums Kathy.

When I lived in Florida I enjoyed many slow, leisurely drives along A1A in south Florida, Melbourne area, and Ormond/Flagler Beach areas.
This was before I started cycling.
You are right about the sunrises. Wonderful way to start the day.

I think it would be VERY NICE to ride a bike along A1A.
Next time I'm down there I'll have to give it a try.

"Fish taco cheesecake." It's the BEST! Ground fish parts with cream cheese, chocolate, marshmallow fluff, and cherries. If you bite something hard, don't worry...it's just a fish bone.

Baboon, you forgot the orange juice . It's not just for breakfast anymore ya know. :p

Anyone out there riding in the Frank Stark charity ride coming up in July? Where you say? Why starts here in Boca and goes north up A1A. You can ride 16 miles or a century. Take your pick.
