Hybrid Bicycles - First ride on my new Fuji traverse :)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I only did a 25 miles ride and the roads are wet but it seems nice ! The gearing is a little different than my road bike so I find myself shifting around to find the right flat road gear but its got a VERY low gear like my Crosstown had..I kept the form locked out because I was just on the road but so far so good !
It has Shimano hubs and crank...Acera derauliers...its not top shelf but not bad for under 500.00 and I sold my Crosstown with about 8k miles on it and a bent front rim for 75.00 cash !

That's a pretty good ride to break in a new bike! Seems like it's sized right since you don't have any complaints. I hear you on the different gear ratios. My older road bike has the perfect gearing for most of my riding. Even though I have adjusted pretty well to the gearing on the new bike, I think I spend more time shifting between the two gears that bracket my ideal gearing.
my hybrid also came with silly low gears, and too wide of a gap between them... I replaced the stock 11-34 8 speed rear cassette with a 13-26, which gives me nearly perfect gear steps. I have the typical hybrid 48-38-28 front.
The only time I find myself in the granny low gear is on soe of the mountains in Maine....I do like the bike so far and if it quits raining I will be out again today...Waiting for my computer to arrive but my time seems about right...My 20 mile run on y road bike I do in 1 hr and 3 minutes...on my hybrid I only avg about 15mph...but im still out there :) I like the fact this bike has Shimano crank and wheel hubs too...seems decent for under 500.00
I put my SMP trk seat on it too so my road bike and this bike have the same seat...tires are 700 x 38 and my crosstown had 70 x 35 so they are pretty close
