I just saw this movie. It hit Red Box in the last day or so. Its worth seeing, just remember it is still a movie. Lots of riding. Not sure sure how realistic the FG handling was as I have never ridden fixed. He sure could lay a skid!

Acting was good, plot was interesting. There were a few "corny" parts toward the end, but still worth the entire $1.27 I paid to see it. I think I read that a well known BMX trickster did a lot of stunts in the movie. I never watch a movie twice, back to back. But I was really tempted to with this one but didn't have the time.

Has anyone else seen this yet? How realistic are the bike handling, braking, etc? I have a flip wheel and I am tempted to turn it around and try fixed.

bike handling and braking in the movie is totally realistic; just like real life. that said, Scrod is right, riding a fixed gear (or fixie, as they call it) is dangerous. I would not recommend it.

You should try it, but I would recommend having brakes for the first 7 years or so.

Don't listen to this guy. He is trying to set you up. Wants you to look like a tool.

Before you even consider getting a bike, learn how to do no-handed track stands. Next, buy a Kilo TT. The sizing may confuse you but you should choose one based on what your friend says looks the coolest. Be sure to post a new thread about your bike right when it arrives. Then, start more threads along the lines of 'what should i upgrade first?', 'i think my crank is slipping' (complete with a video for bonus points) and 'what's wrong with my bike fit?' so we can help you figure it all out.

First unrealistic thing, is that he had a freewheel ratcheting sound on his Fixed gear bike on 1st minute of the movie.

Thanks for all the help guys *cough* *cough* I'll be sure to get my order in for the Kilo... I see that BikesDirect has all the sizes and colors available right now.

I don't think I caught that. I was, however, watching to see if he coasted at all, but that part looked pretty legit.

They play this movie on American Airlines flights right now. I watched bits and pieces with no sound and it hands down is my favorite movie of all time. Spielberg, Jackson, and Tarantino need to go back to school. This thing was cinematographic gold.

Wow what a stupid movie, Michael Shannon's horrible acting as the racist bad cop you learn to hate, Baba O'Reily multiple times, and cool Fixie Bros...give me a break.

I thought it was really cool actually. Definitely an original idea, acting was really good, visuals were awesome. Definitely worth a watch, I may even buy it for real real.

Very surprised this movie has a positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, JGL was the only believable actor in it, and even his dialogue was poorly written.

Other than poor writing/acting, one of my major issues is the messenger on the Parlee. What messenger can afford a Parlee with SRAM Red and ENVE? Even if he could, there's np way he'd use it on his route.

^ +1, was wondering about that the entire film. I bet most riders with a carbon bike and sram red don't have a big ram pick-up truck either...

I'm more surprised that anyone here had any great expectations for a sw8 fixay film.

I already expected it to be ****ty, so I was able to mindlessly enjoy it.

Same. I knew it was going to be pretty bad, so I just sat down and enjoyed with a few beers. The idea behind the story was actually better than I thought it would be, I just wish it had been pulled off better.
