Commuting - Uh oh....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Dang. Left my lock key at home this morning. OK no problem, I can just park the bike inside in an unused cubicle next to mine- I'm the first one here, nobody will notice right? Wrong. Forgot about the light colored beige carpet which now has a perfect set of tire tracks from the dirty street leading right to my desk. Boss will not be happy, I nearly got us kicked out of the bldg. when I had a fight with the bldg. mgr. about leaving it in the hall last year (it wasnt in the way, there is no safe place to lock less than 2 blocks away... just a "fire code" BS thing he had up his azz, forget about the boxes and junk he regularly puts out there-) Looking desperately for a vacuum now- cabinet locked. Now going to try to wipe it up with damp paper towels... it's a good 50 foot trail. Why didn't I just carry it in all the way??? Why???
Are the tracks still noticeable? I found a closet in my last office. It was rarely used and big enough for my bike. If you get a folding bike, you can just fold it up and put it under your desk. Good luck.
Take the said bike and make so many tracks to other cubicles, anybody following it would (by probability and statistics) reach your desk in about 8 hours, thereby, you will be gone from work.

'Cept sadly he is probably the only cyclist in the office. I worked at a firm with over 5000 employees... we had 40 bike lockers and it was enough.

... "What can Brown do for you?"
Well, yesterday Brown (UPS) delivered my new race wheels to my house. Right on!
And today the Brown guy showed up with a stack of printer paper on a hand cart before anyone noticed the tire tracks. Saved! So I told everyone I chewed him out good for making a mess of the carpet. Gotta slip him a 10 spot next time I see him... Now I just need to slip the bike outta the office tonight without anyone seeing it. Tune in tomorrow morning for more Adventures in Bike Commuting!
Next time... will the bike geek get outta his tights and into his pants before anyone arrives? And will anyone identify the strange odor coming from the bike geek's bottom desk drawer that smells like... wet socks?

You could take a rag and wipe off the tires next time you bring it in.

Wear on of those triathlete speedos once and they'll be begging you to wear the tights.
