Bicycle Mechanics - What Bar End Shifters for 10-Speed Ultegra Triple 6703?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I want to use bar-end shifters with a 10-speed Ultegra triple crankset (6703) and Ultegra triple front derailleur. If I am reading the bits and pieces of various other posts correctly, the current Dura Ace bar end shifters (BS79) are not compatible with anything but the current Dura Ace front derailleur, which only comes in a double. Do I have to find some old Dura Ace BS78 bar end shifters for this crankset and front derailleur setup? Thanks....

AFAIK all left bar-end shifters will shift a triple. At least all the old ones did. But (again, I'm trying to remember...) I think they might have taken out the "friction" setting on the newest 10S bar-end shifters for the right side, so maybe they also made the left side only have enough throw for a double? It would be really stupid if they did, and I highly doubt it's the case, but I could be wrong.
Here's the statement found on various online retailer websites regarding the BS79 shifters: "BS79 shifters only compatible with Dura-Ace 7900 front derailleur due to revised cable pull actuation." Shimano says that the Dura Ace 7900 front derailleur is not compatible with Dura Ace 7800 crankset and chain, so I assumed that means it also is not compatible with 6700 cranks.

As left bar end shifters, are friction, only the right one has "speeds" for the rear mech.
and the Rear/Rt, 10 speed version, AFAIK is index only, 8s & 9s go into a friction mode..
but you were asking about the front. they vary only because the chain is thinner..
No indication of rear gears mentioned.

The 7800 rear shifter (SL-BS78) has a friction option. The front shifter is friction-only and will work fine with your triple.
In general Shimano has a pretty narrow definition of what they consider "compatible".
