just wondering if theres a proper way to remove this 290377 from my shogun selectra without damage? or will i have to hack it off?? im not familiar with gear shifters like these

It's a concave washer and you can gently pry it off with a screw driver. There will still be brazed on shifter posts, they're just part of the frame.

You can buy bolt on covers such as these. (http://problemsolversbike.com/products/shifter_boss_covers) If you grind them off, then it will make it more difficult and less elegant to mount shifters on the frame in the future, and it's fairly likely that either you or a future owner of the frame will someday want to use gears. So please don't grind them off.

Just adding to that, if you fit shifters mounted on the handlebars, the cable adjusters go on those mounts. ;)

its probably better i keep the original and not ruin the bosses, it will look nicer if/when someone adds shifters ;)
