Hybrid Bicycles - Dropped just under 11kg with my changes.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It's been a long time coming but I just slipped under 11 kg with my hybrid.
I don't want to start the old boring weight weenie debate :crash: because it's far from weight weenie status.
Anyway, my changes have made my Cannondale so blooming fantastic to ride. It feels like I'm flying. :D
I know many of you don't believe that reducing bicycle weight achieves much, but I'm convinced it has with the combination of the right equipment. BTW I'm only 62kg so reducing body weight first isn't an issue.

Nice ride! But those tube angles are unlike any Cannondale I'm familiar with. What year and model are we looking at?

Around here that is just usable in August, maybe September, when the rain holds off.. .

Lucky here in Kyoto. Our rain is usually July (during summer) although in winter the mountain roads have snow and ice so it's flat roads only until spring for this bike. (>_<)
My MTB is my snow / rain bike. (^o^)/

Aha! See - I looked at that and really liked it! The new Bad Boys don't do anything for me - I actually opted for the very similar Giant Seek 1 instead. :(

Yes the Seek is very similar and lovely looking frame. They have caught my eye a few times around here.

Loving the Bad Boy. I'm currently building a 2001 Bad Boy Ultra, all with light parts, from my racing MTB. It will get 700c carbon disc wheels, and a 46-38 Cyclocross crankset, for a final weight of around 7kg/15 pounds. Pictures coming soon.....
hah, and when I weighed my hybrid the other day, it was 15.2kg (33.5 lbs). but thats with fenders, rack, lights, speedo, water bottle(empty), and a kryptonite cable lock. and rack top bag. 700x32 tires.
after *I* lose 10kg or so more, THEN I'll consider putting my bike on a diet.

LOL And I'm thinking about putting mine on steroids - DH hubs, 26" rims and 2" road slicks. Closer to a city ATB able to deal easily with cobblestones at speed.
But I really like that BadBoy he posted!!

wanna do that concept right? start with a Surly Karate Monkey, which is a 29er ridgid ... put some 700x50 (29x2") high thread count slicks on it, and it would ride /sweet/.
