"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - OLN Race Coverage

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just read this on the OLN site from their moderator.
[I][COLOR=Blue]OK cycling fans, I finally have some news to share with you.
Regular cycling coverage will resume in Mar. Right now, it looks like it will begin Mar. 6 or 13.
There will be regular, same-day coverage on Sundays at 3pm ET. Shows could run up to 2 hours, depending on the race.
Phil, Paul and Bob will be calling the races. We will be covering ALL of the spring classics.
When we have a definite start date (Mar. 6 or 13) and a detailed schedule, it will be posted on our website.
For now, I thought I’d share this good news with you.

Coincidence???
Any port in a storm.

That would be the crowning point of my addiction...
Good news. I was in the process of talking a friend into taping them all and sending them over so I could watch them weeks later. Same day coverage would be even better.

I now have the exact date to resubscribe to OLN. I dumped them, and shot them an e-mail stating why, after they totally blew of the Vuelta last year.
Do you know if they are planning on covering the Giro, or the Vuelta this year? ThanX! :)

He did say, "ALL of the spring classics." Gotta think Milan-San Remo is a good possibility. I'm assuming Lance is going to ride Paris-Nice, Ronde, Paris-Roubaix, and Amstel at least. That's a good start.

Maybe they could get Emeril Lagasse to do a cycling food show with Chef Willy...Emeril handing out feedbags at the Tour, yelling "Bam" as he hands them out.. :D

Blasted DirecTV and their newfangled technology. No more stealing satellite signals up here in Canadia.
As a gift to the cycling gods, in thanks for for your good fortune, perhaps you should pay it forward? Hm? Anyone want to tape Flanders for me? Maybe Paris-Roubaix?
Schwing! Way to go OLN!!!

Got to make sure I get the DVR locked and loaded on this...and F1. LOL DVR is CLEARLY a great invention.
Time for me to reestablish my OLN race tape connection, since up here in canada we're race-deprived.
However, with no hockey, TSN has been devoting time to triathlons instead of game reruns. SO at least you get to see people cycling.
since up here in canada we're race-deprived.
Here (http://www.broadcastdialogue.com/directory.asp?IDnumber=980) is where you'll find a contact at OLN Canada. I would suggest a flood of polite email requests could convince them there's an audience for more cycling coverage.
Here is the reply I received in the link to a contact at OLN Canada, posted above:
As of this moment, OLN Canada does not have intentions of airing more
cycling outside of the Tour de France. Typically, cycling does not perform
well (in ratings) in Canada (other than the above mentioned event). Having
said that, I am not discounting bringing cycling to Canada this spring and I
am currently investigating some events. It will depend of rights
availability and scheduling scenarios.
C'mon Canadians, let OLN (http://www.broadcastdialogue.com/directory.asp?IDnumber=980) know there IS an audience in Canada for cycling events other than just the Tour. Certainly the ratings for same-day coverage of a Spring Classic can't be any worse than the umpteenth repeat of Carribean Workout????
It's a waste of time. Everyone I know has been emailing them for three years, and it's done nothing. If they haven't figured it out yet, they're morons. The best solution for canadians is to get dish tv or a connection in the US who can tape stuff for you.

Wow!
That's GREAT news. Only time I'm glued to the TV - except Battle Star Galactica.
Makes trainer riding a little more tolerable too.

Pretty sad. Four Giro shows to cover a three week race and only two Vuelta shows. A show before Paris Nice and one after but none during? The Giro and Vuelta coverage really is NOT better than nothing. You still have to find a way to watch it daily.
And incredibly they're still not covering the worlds.
My only hope is that they give the one-day races more than 40 minures of coverage.

Yes. And daily Giro coverage also.
It's one thing to have nothing and be given something. It's another thing altogether to have a lot and then have it taken from ya.

Paris-Roubaix is tape delayed? Huh?
Here in Canada CBC covers the worlds and sometimes other events, like WC track, and MTB world champs. However, that's about it.
WOuldn't it be great if the networks showed some imagination and put in cycling to fill up the empty hockey slots? Yeah, and monkeys might yet fly out my butt.

Anyone who has RAI and can record the Giro coverage, please PM me. I have OLN and will trade whatever I can.
